RESPECT FOR ALL WEEK

March 8-12 has been designated Respect for All week in all NYC public schools. This event is sponsored by the NYC Department of Education in collaboration with the NYC Council, United Federation of Teachers (UFT), and Council of School Supervisors and Administrators (CSA). Join us on Saturday, March 13, for a day of workshops dedicated to encouraging respect for all in our schools. Come to Central UFT, 52 Broadway, 5th floor, 10am to 2pm. RSVP at stannerhill@uft.org or send a fax to 212 677-6612. Include your name, email address, school and boro.

Parent Information Session on March 19

Robin Barrie Kaiden, MS, RD, CDN, has been successfully assisting her clients in meeting their personal wellness, nutrition, weight loss, and exercise needs for over ten years.Robin's extensive experience includes working at NYC's leading hospitals, consulting for top medical specialists, and training clients at state-of-the-art fitness centers. She received bachelor's and master's degrees in nutrition and exercise science from Cornell and Columbia Universities.

Robin's focus is to change her clients' lives. From physical fitness to medical issues requiring strict diets, Robin creates individualized programs for adults and children to maximize their health and give them the self-confidence to achieve and maintain their goals.Robin will be joining us on Friday, March 19, at 8:20AM, in the school auditorium. BOOKS FOR YOUR CHILD'S READING LEVEL: Progress reports were recently distributed, which incuded your child's reading level.  A list of books for each reading level is posted in the Teacher Corner on the left.  

Registration for Fall 2010 at PS 6 starts on February 1, 2010Click here for instructions on how to complete "intake", which is the first step in the registration process.

HAVE YOU MADE YOUR FAMILY GIFT TO PS6? -   It's not what you give, but that you give.   Donations help pay for the programs and resources that the regular school budget does not cover.   The requested amount is $1,000 per student, but no amount is too small.  DONATE ONLINE NOW:   Click here or send a completed donation form and check made out to "PS 6 PTA" to the PTA c/o Joseph Andreano, Financial Secretary (donations are kept strictly confidential).  Donations are tax deductible.   IMPORTANT:  School budget cuts are coming mid-year. Click here for news report on challenges principals are going to face as they are expected to implement these budget cuts.

COME GET INVOLVED AT PS 6! Would you like to help PS 6 and get to know other parents, teachers and administrators?  There are limitless ways that you can volunteer your time.  Whether you have an hour or two or would like to take on a whole project, the school will benefit from your contribution.  There are many projects that can be done without even coming to the school. For more info, contact Alison Spolar at alisonspolar@yahoo.com for fundraising and community building activities and Debbie Teitlebaum at Debbie@siecal.com for general volunteer opportunities or if you have a volunteer idea.
